Summary

Avenue Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of children and teenagers in situations of social vulnerability. We envision a tomorrow in which every child and teenager, empowered by education, culture, and sports, awakens to the greatness of their dreams, building a future filled with dignity for the entire global society.

We want you to clearly and directly understand which information and personal data of yours we have access to, what we do with them, and how we keep them protected. That’s why we created this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you read it carefully. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us – it’s always a pleasure to assist you!

Definitions

You’ll notice that, throughout this document, we refer to concepts such as “personal data,” “data processing,” and “data subject.” Do you know what they mean? We’ve prepared a brief glossary with the main terms to help you better navigate our Privacy Policy.

Avenue Hope: refers to the nonprofit association, authorized by the beneficiary’s parent or legal guardian to provide services related to education.

Service: refers to all Avenue Hope Services, including educational services and complementary services, as explained above.

Beneficiary: refers to the children and teenagers enrolled in the institution’s activities.

Parents or Guardians: are the parents or legal guardians of the beneficiaries.

Volunteering: a set of actions or activities carried out by volunteers, either organized or individually, aimed at supporting, promoting, and strengthening the organization’s mission free of charge, always respecting the principles of gratuity, solidarity, and social responsibility.

Volunteer: an individual who, freely, voluntarily, and without employment ties, provides unpaid services to Avenue Hope, contributing to its activities, projects, or social causes.

Personal Data: any and all information related to a person that identifies them or makes them identifiable. For example: name, social security number (CPF), address, date of birth, email, etc.

Data Protection Authority: the bodies responsible for overseeing and regulating the compliance with data protection obligations.

Consent: a free, informed, and unambiguous expression by which the data subject agrees to the processing of their personal data for a specific purpose.

Sensitive Personal Data: personal data related to intimate aspects of a person’s life that may lead to discrimination. Examples include: data on racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs or political opinions, genetic or biometric data, health-related data, and data concerning a person’s sexual orientation.

Purpose: a principle of the LGPD that establishes that data processing must be carried out for legitimate, specific, explicit, and informed purposes, without the possibility of subsequent processing in a manner incompatible with these purposes.

Privacy Legislation: any and all laws or regulations aimed at protecting personal data, ensuring that it is collected, used, and stored in a transparent and secure manner. Examples: LGPD (Brazil).

Processing: refers to any action performed with personal data. Article 5, X, of the LGPD, as well as Article 4 of the GDPR, are very broad, and almost anything done with data falls under the scope of these laws, such as collection, use, access, storage, and transfer of data, among others.

Data Subject: is the individual to whom the Personal Data being processed refers. This could be you, a colleague, a family member, or a client.

How do we process your personal data?

Processing Activities

We process Personal Data in four main situations:

  • When enrolling or pre-enrolling the beneficiary: data provided through the completion of the Pre-Enrollment Form, Pedagogical and Socioeconomic Interview, Educational Services Agreement and its amendments, as well as the submission of required document copies.
  • When using Avenue Hope Services: data that may be provided during participation in any activity related to the Services, such as classroom or other educational activities, and for photographic records related to the delivery of the Services.
  • When you register to participate in the volunteering or donation programs: data you provide when signing up for Avenue Hope’s volunteering and donation programs, through the completion of forms and the submission of document copies.
  • When you access Avenue Hope’s premises: to allow your entry to Avenue Hope’s facilities, through temporary registration for occasional visitors or permanent registration for the duration of the Services.
  • Data provided by third parties: Avenue Hope may receive data from (a) schools the beneficiary currently attends or has attended, to verify document accuracy, prevent fraud, and check the payment status of parents or guardians; and (b) healthcare professionals, such as doctors, therapists, speech therapists, and psychologists who treat the beneficiary, who are willing to share such personal data with Avenue Hope, provided that at least one parent or guardian has given authorization and always in the best interest of the beneficiary.

Types of Personal Data

Avenue Hope collects the personal data listed below in order to perform its functions and provide the best Services.

  • Beneficiary Personal Data: data collected includes full name, date of birth, gender, place of birth, photograph, address, ID card (RG), social security number (CPF), birth certificate, school enrollment statement, completion certificate, academic transcript, and school transfer statement.
  • Sensitive Personal Data of Beneficiaries: Avenue Hope may process data and information related to: (a) physical health (illnesses, disabilities, treatments, medication use, weight, height, blood type); (b) dietary health (food restrictions, allergies and intolerances, dietary preferences and habits); (c) mental health (emotional state, medical/psychological diagnoses, beneficiary behavior); (d) socioeconomic status (individual or family income, employment or unemployment status of parents, family members, or legal guardians, type of housing, access to social benefits, sanitation conditions, access to water and electricity); (e) religion (religious affiliation, participation in religious activities, information on spiritual or philosophical practices).
  • Parents’ or Guardians’ Personal Data: name, place of birth, ID card (RG), social security number (CPF), email, phone number, address, marital status, profession, and proof of payment compliance.
  • Personal Data of Family Members or Third Parties Related to the Beneficiary: in addition to the parents’ or guardians’ data, data from family members or third parties may be collected to identify individuals authorized to pick up the child from the institution and for emergency contact purposes. This includes name, ID card (RG), phone number, and relationship to the beneficiary.
  • Data Related to the Registration Program: to meet the requirements for enrollment as a beneficiary of Avenue Hope, additional data may be collected regarding the income of beneficiaries and their families for participation in the organization; as well as documents that verify the beneficiaries’ socioeconomic status, which include total monthly family income and per capita income, along with documents proving monthly income, portfolios, and report cards, as applicable.
  • Contact Data and Visitor Data at Avenue Hope’s Premises:data such as name, ID card (RG) or social security number (CPF), and photograph may be collected from visitors to Avenue Hope’s premises, as well as data for new enrollments and visit scheduling, including email, phone number, neighborhood of residence, and the student’s school information.

In addition to the data specified here, Avenue Hope may also collect other Personal Data that are specific to the provision of a particular or occasional Service, limited to what is necessary for the Service and in accordance with applicable law.

Data Subject Rights

The Data Subject may exercise, at any time, through Avenue Hope’s service channels, all rights granted by the LGPD (Law 13,709/2018) and other applicable legislation, such as:

  • The confirmation of the existence of personal data processing and access to such data.
  • The correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated personal data.
  • The portability of personal data to another service or product provider, while respecting trade and industrial secrets.
  • The deletion of personal data processed with the Data Subject’s consent.
  • Information about the companies or entities with which the organization has shared data.
  • Information about the possibility of revoking or withholding consent, as well as the consequences of doing so.
  • The review of decisions made solely based on automated processing of personal data that affect the Data Subject’s interests.
  • The right to request the application of consumer protection laws in safeguarding their data, when applicable.

Why do we process this data?

Avenue Hope processes Personal Data in the capacity of a Processor, transparently, following the instructions provided by the Controllers and limiting processing activities to the minimum necessary to achieve the following purposes:

1. Management of beneficiaries and volunteers

  • Keep updated records and registrations of members, volunteers, and supporters.
  • Provide pedagogical support or any support related to the quality of educational Services.
  • Adapt Avenue Hope’s environments, activities, and procedures to the beneficiaries’ physical or cognitive conditions, as well as their emotional and mental well-being,
  • Plan and facilitate the implementation of teaching, pedagogical, and educational methodologies and activities, ensuring the beneficiaries’ development and safety.
  • Provide and manage the use of technological devices by students, including tablets, laptops, and any other devices that may be used.

2. Provision of Institutional Services

  • Enable the provision of Services, under the terms and conditions established in the Educational Services Agreement, as well as to offer and carry out complementary services, to the extent necessary for the specific service.
  • Organize schedules, activities, and training for the volunteering programs.
  • Conduct financial activities related to donations received by Avenue Hope, as well as payments made by the organization. This includes monitoring payments made and owed, processing collections, verifying and validating amounts, preparing financial reports, carrying out external audit procedures, among others.

3. Institutional Communication

  • Inform parents or legal guardians about scheduled visits and/or meetings, pedagogical monitoring, beneficiaries’ health and safety matters, emergencies, and other institutional matters.
  • Allow third parties to contact you when strictly necessary for the execution of the Service or with your authorization. For example, other parents or guardians may wish to reach you to inform you about events, transportation, parties, or other activities organized by the students.
  • Allow voice recording during phone calls for monitoring and evaluating the quality of the Service provided, as well as to demonstrate compliance with our obligations.
  • Send notices, newsletters, and invitations related to Avenue Hope’s Services and policies.
  • Publish reports on the association’s activities, achievements, and results;
  • Respond to questions, requests, and messages received through the website, email, or social media.

4. Organization of Events and Activities

  • Manage registrations, attendance lists, and participation certificates;
  • Record and share events through photos and videos, when authorized.
  • Promote and organize events hosted by or related to Avenue Hope, including but not limited to lectures, workshops, courses, outings and excursions, celebrations, and commemorative dates.

5. Management of donations and campaigns

  • Process donations, contributions, and annual membership payments.
  • Ensure the association’s fiscal and accounting compliance through the issuance of receipts, statements, audits, and financial reports.
  • Communicate and document the data, outcomes, and impact of donations received by Avenue Hope.

We delete your Personal Data once the purpose for which it was processed has been fulfilled, or when the data is no longer necessary to achieve that purpose. Deletion also occurs upon withdrawal of consent by the Data Subject, as communicated by the Data Controller, in cases where such action is required by a competent authority—except in situations where the law mandates data retention.

Who do we share data with?

Occasionally, to comply with applicable legal and regulatory obligations—such as accounting, financial, and tax requirements—as well as duties specific to Avenue Hope’s field of activity, your data may be shared with third parties, including public or private legal entities such as service providers, payment processors, intermediaries, managers, public officials, agencies, and sectors of the Public Administration.

Avenue Hope will ensure the implementation of best practices in information security to protect the confidentiality and safety of your personal data.

We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of data. These measures include internal reviews of our data collection, storage, and processing practices, as well as suitable physical safeguards to prevent unauthorized access to systems where personal data is stored—such as our internal databases, tools, and encryption protocols.

We restrict access to personal information exclusively to Avenue Hope employees and/or service providers who need to know such information in order to process it on our behalf. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to disciplinary measures if they fail to comply with the guidelines established between the parties.

If it becomes necessary to share your Personal Data with third parties not listed in this Policy, you will be notified in advance. In such cases, the Data Subject’s explicit consent will be required, outlining the procedures for Data Processing.

When you visit a website, it may store or collect information in your browser, primarily in the form of cookies. This information may relate to you, your preferences, or your device, and is mainly used to ensure the website functions as expected.

The information usually does not directly identify you, but it can provide you with a more personalized web experience. 1. Essential Cookies

These cookies are necessary for:

  • Understanding your browsing behavior and how the Platform is being used; these cannot be disabled in our systems.

What are your rights?

As the Data Subject, you may exercise—at any time and through Avenue Hope’s service channels—all rights granted to you under the LGPD and other applicable data protection laws. We are available to provide further clarification. These rights include:

  • Confirmation: the right to be informed about the existence of processing of your personal data.
  • Access: the right to request access to the personal data processed by Avenue Hope.
  • Correction: the right to request the modification or update of personal data processed by Avenue Hope whenever such data is incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated.
  • Restriction: the right to object or request the anonymization, blocking, or deletion of data that is unnecessary, excessive, or processed in violation of personal data protection legislation.
  • Portability: the right to request the transfer of data processed by Avenue Hope to another service provider.
  • Deletion: the right to request the deletion of personal data processed based on your consent.
  • Information: the right to be informed about the public and private entities with which Avenue Hope has shared your data, about the possibility of not providing consent, and the consequences of such refusal.
  • Revocation of consent: when the processing depends on your consent, the right to revoke, at any time, the previously granted consent through an express statement, by a free and simplified procedure. The revocation of your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out up to the moment of revocation.
  • Review of automated decisions: possibility to request the review of decisions made by Avenue Hope solely based on automated processing of personal data that affect your interests.

Our Privacy Policy is subject to occasional updates at any time, and such changes will be considered immediately applicable and effective.

The present document may be updated, especially if the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) issues new directives regarding the procedures described herein.
